The holidays are fast approaching and it’s likely that you’ll soon have a house full of guests. You want it to look its best when the family and friends start arriving so now is the time to spruce up your home for the holidays and get it ready for those dinner parties and Christmas morning.
Clean the Flooring
Depending on the type of flooring you have in your home, you might want to take some time to do a deep cleaning, or at least spend more time than you might normally would. If you don’t own a carpet cleaner, rent one for the day and spend an afternoon shampooing your carpet and area rugs, even if they don’t seem that dirty. This can brighten up the room and eliminate allergens embedded in the flooring. If you’re working with hardwood or laminate, be sure to sweep and mop to get all the dirt and stains out before the guests arrive.
If your living room is looking a little plain, worn out, or just boring, it might be time to update the set. Consider a new sofa or sectional that give your guests plenty of room to spread out or invest in a recliner or two for stretching out in after the big meals. If you’re hosting a big meal, maybe it’s time to upgrade to a large dining room table with plenty of chairs for the crew.
While you’re getting everything clean and ready for the holidays, don’t forget to turn your home into a festive wonderland. It’s easy to get caught up in making your home green and red for the holidays but it’s okay to keep it simple. Sometimes a classy wreath, a tree in the corner, and garland on the banister is all you need to create that Christmas vibe you’re going for.
